Overture

The quietude of the morning blanket of clouds

Absorbs all sound and brings forth those of nature like a symphonic movement

The owl is first chair in a soft beginning

It’s cousin’s mellow screech adds accompaniment

Both near and distant roosters intersperse harmoniously

As songbirds bring woodwind melodies

But the hush remains the theme

As the day begins with ease

Resting raindrops snare random percussion through the leaves

In a rhythmic pattern that can only be discerned through eternity

My mind is the conductor

The duck section adds to the score with chatter from the wings

As if one had just told a joke

And frogs croak their glee to the wet morning soak

Like eyesight adjusts to the darkness to cut the night and see more stars

My hearing senses more and more through the sound of silence

As the world awakens once again
