Crashing and Burning

Flames burn the excess

As if we have left any excess to burn

We waste and abuse and ignore and abhor

We should not exist anymore

But yet, we flourish as a bacterial threat

We languish in our gluttonous debt

We rape and scar and kill and mar

We should not have trodden so far

Humanity is beautiful in so many ways

But it is negated by our destructive daze

No one considers consequence to those that follow

We just plunder along as we wallow.
